So, You want a Vision

Wolf was approached this last weekend in a grocery store by a young woman, she had apparently overheard Wolf and I talking about visions and how most people don't know how to gain the medicine they offer the vision seer. This young woman asked "how do you gain from something so disturbing? I had heard that a vision can kill the seer, is that true?" Wolf refered her to me. After talking with the woman for a few minutes I could feel her anxiety over her dreams, it litterally flowed from her as we talked. I told her that her vision must be acted out, in the right order, for her to gain the medicine this vision would bring her. That she must first perform a ceremony to unequa, the creator. This, I told her, would show that she is serious about gaining what will be given. I then told her that she would bury corn, tobacco and water the ground with milk as sacrificial offerings as she sang her song to unequa. She would be needing two friends to participate with her as the vision showed, they would dance, also as her vision had shown her, while she carried out the part of the vision she was supposed to. Wolf told her where to obtain some white sage and sweet grass to burn on the ceremonial fire as they began. We were thanked and the woman went off to finish her shopping.

This event brought to me the idea that this is something that all that seek to walk the good red road should know how to do, for that day when they must follow a vision to gain the power and medicine offered to them. To not follow through does mean that the vision will haunt the seer until they act out the vision and so gain that which has been offered to them by unequa. It is possible that not following through might bring unrest to the seer. It is also possible that it could kill the seer if they don't do what is necessary to complete the hoop the vision begins, now it will not "strike you dead" in the physical sense but it can fester and grow to take up all your thoughts, this can lead to inattention and we all know what that can cause, particularly if you are driving.

When one has a vision, there is a purpose, there normally is a ceremony, shown within the vision for the seer to carry out. When the seer of the vision carries out the particulars of the ceremony(s) shown within the vision, they gain the medicine that was offered. Most people that frequent sites like this one, are aware of the vision of Black Elk, who upon completing the first ceremony of his vision, gained great medicine. As he completed more of the ceremonies show to him, he became one of the greatest healers his people had ever known.

Dreams and visions are very powerful, they can show us the plan Wakantanka has for us, they can be the flux that allows us to gain power and medicine to use for others sake. No one ever has a vision that only gives the seer gains. Creator, in his wisdom, rarely if ever gives a vision to someone that would become selfish, using the gift(s) only for personal gains. I have only seen this happen once and it did indeed result in the seer loosing everything he had held dear to himself.

I am now in the process of giving those who choose to read and practice, the methods of gaining and using the things a vision or dream can bring them when properly acted out. This is not something to use like a parlor trick, nor is it designed to help the selfish, those people will design their own demise and usually carry it out quite well with no help from the outside. This is designed to bring knowledge to those who truly desire and seek to learn our ways, to allow those who seek it, find enlightenment and become the spiritual being that we all are within. I would be remiss in my duty if I did not now explain a few "requirements" that any one who seeks medicine and power should be fully aware of.

If you seek a vision, know that it is not just for you in the end. It is given to the seer for the people, all the people. You, the seer have just been chosen by the great mystery to be a messenger of unequa, and so you will give up your self for the benefit of the people or you will loose the vision and any medicine you might gain from it. There are indeed great blessings, waiting to come to the seer of a vision but only if they realise that they have been choosen to become a servant to the creator, they have been choosen to give up much but they also will gain much more than they give up. To seek a vision is to tell creator that you are ready and willing to do these things and unequa will expect you to be as good as your word.

Not everyone is prepared to do what the vision requires. If you aren't prepared, it is best to not vision quest. Meditation is very much key to bringing the spiritual being within to the outside, for all to see, it also can bring strife and confusion to the unprepaired. This brings up the most serious questions: Why is it that you feel the need to seek a vision? If you do have a vision, are you prepaired to do what must then be done? Are you really ready to become a vessel of the great mystery, so that unequa can perfom great works through you?
