Have you noticed how many animals are all over the roads lately? I am not sure what is happening, but I know that there are an abnormal amount of dead animals on the road lately. We have had a surge of skunks on the road. Normally there are more in March and April, but not in August.

Right before a storm comes up here in Arkansas, the dragonflies and flying insects are out in full force.

I would like to not only leave a comment but also a book recomendation...Animal Speak :By Ted Andrews. Even though its not "just" watching animals for the weather, it is about watching animals for signs and suggestions of what is going on in your own life. Every animal that shows up in your life, weather in life or the dream scape, are here for a reason. When an animal shows up in your life they are here to give us a message and it helps to know what you can do to improve your life. I grew up learning how to watch the weather [among other things] by watching the animals from Grandfather One Feather. He taught me how to tell the temperature by listening to the crickets chirp, to wait for rain when the peepers croaked, watching the ants, squirrels and other animals collecting food to see if it would be a hard winter, watching the woodpeckers to see how early and what trees they built their homes in, etc. I loved learning from him and wish he was still here [although I speak with his spirit often, its not the same] so that he could help me teach my daughter. There is so much I want to share with her about the wonders all around her and I fear I will forget something along the way. Anyhow I am glad that this group was started and hope that others will post more so that we can all learn, blessings Ruth White Wolf

Animals and Nature are the teachers of Human Beings, if we observe what is around us from the ground up, the ants preparing for rain, building dikes around there entries, everyone foraging, livestock bunching in the same direction, leaves turning over to get a bath it is all wonderful to learn and teach.

My horses and the wild lfe always alert me to storms ...I spend so much time with animals that I notice the same habits in my self and family . We tend to raid the fridge before a storm comes ..Natures way of having you eat extra for the bad weather ahead ..The horses and dogs are hungrier and the deer are out grazing more . The silence of birds is a mojor warning too .

I have a huge faith in how the weather effects all living creatures, I have a male cat and an Indian Ringneck Parrakeet, they tell me when the weather is going to be bad, they go silent and my cat follows me around like a shadow as if to protect me its really remarkable.

I have 7 birds and know when there is something up as they get very quite--since I live in earth quake country I pay attention to my birds and how they react to the weather or the ground shaking LOL Doc
